This process takes its name from the manual tool that was originally used to make this type of finish, called bocciarda or bush hammer, whose use dates back to the Middle Ages.
Today the same result is achieved through special pneumatic hammers equipped with diamond plates. This type of treatment gives the stone a rough, sculpted effect, making the surface of the natural stone similar to that of the raw material, enhancing its texture.
Given the anti-slip properties that derive from it, bush-hammering is particularly good for exterior applications and also guarantees considerable durability.
